"Family is a haven in a heartless world." --Christopher Lasch

You don't choose your family. They are God's gift to you, as you are to them.

One week down...

We still have one week left together but with all the plans we have scheduled over the next few days it seems as if time is winding down too quickly now before Frank returns to Iraq next week.
We've been having a great time catching up...it's as if we're dating again. I am obnoxious and constantly smiling and in a state of bliss. Having him home, even if for only 2 weeks, is as if everything in the world is as it should be again. Normalcy has been the key word around here lately. It feels so nice to go to the grocery store, cook a meal and eat together and have dishes laying around and to wake up next to him in the mornings...things like that are far too often taken for granted.
Since he's been home we've done a lot of relaxing, too much eating and some projects around the house. We got our huge deck stained a new color, spent a weekend in Lafayette with his family, had a lovely evening downtown in a nice hotel and he surprised me with going to a beautiful rooftop revolving restaurant in the city called "The Eagle's Nest." It was lovely and the views were even better! We're looking forward to another week together and savoring every moment. Pictures and another update to follow upon his departure next week!
